Our Impact
The NJ State Mass Choir (NJSMC) is a branch of the Inspirational Arts & Music Academy (IAMA), a nonprofit educational institution established in New Jersey to inspire and equip its student members for further education. It is a concert choir consisting of high school and community college students from across the state.
The choir aims to support and encourage the 120-member New Jersey State Legislature and affiliated state agencies through musical performances while learning about the state legislative process and bill formulation.
This initiative, grounded in academic research, seeks to eliminate obstacles for underrepresented high school and community college students from economically disadvantaged communities to foster equity, opportunity, and inspiration by providing leadership, higher education guidance and direction, mentorship, scholarship, and performance opportunities to its student membership aspiring to higher education at community colleges in New Jersey.
